Financial Reporting Accountant #31-2012-GOV-C – Fixed Term Contract – 8 months

Millennium EMS Solutions Ltd. (MEMS) is looking for a Financial Reporting Accountant (FRA) to join the Finance team. A minimum of five-eight (5-8) years of experience in an accounting type role with a focus on financial reporting, as well as an accounting or business degree from an accredited institution. This position will serve as a hands-on generalist within the Finance team, working through a wide breadth of finance-related activities. Knowledge and experience in a project-based environment in the professional services or consulting industry is required. The successful candidate will have previous experience working with an ERP, while having experience with Vision would be considered a vital asset. In addition, the successful applicant will need to possess a valid, non-GDL Class 5 Driver’s license. Through a mix of education and experience, the FRA will have a strong foundation in Finance and Accounting, possess experience with complex and diverse projects, project management, project controls, and communicate their perspective to all levels and areas in the organization. The successful applicant will be highly organized to meet tight deadlines under stressful conditions and has sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills. Strong written and verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required, along with a strong understanding of financial reports, including budgetary guidelines and project expenditures.

Location:             Calgary, AB

Job Purpose:       To work as part of the Millennium Finance team to execute financial reporting. This is a full-time fixed-term eight-month contract. This position requires office work in a demanding consultative environment.

The position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the Finance team to complete various regular weekly, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end duties.
  • Support, information gathering and liaise with auditors during year-end audit.
  • Analyze and monitor financial results, incorporating variance analysis.
  • Assist with project controls, analysis and reporting, including accurate cost code structure, revenue recognition, rate tables, etc.
  • Maintaining Aged Work in Progress (WIP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) below target levels by verifying and resolving client billing and collection issues.
  • Act as key support and resource on special projects.
  • Other duties and projects as required.
